Developers have been working round the clock to ensure their applications are among the first available for the Apple iPad. The device, which goes on sale in the United States on Saturday, can also run applications designed for the iPhone and iPad touch, though some software designers have chosen to optomise their apps for the iPad's large, 10in screen.
Among the apps available at launch are Twitterific, a Twitter client for the iPad; productivity app Bento; addictive game Flight Control; and optimised news apps from AP and Reuters. Other media organisations, such as the New York Times, are also expected to make an iPad app available on day of launch, as are large games studios, including Electronic Arts.
